| Arrange Menu: Fit to Page (Creating Backgrounds) |
This command is only available if one object is selected within the active scrapbook page.
The Fit to Page command is best used for creating a background for the active scrapbook page. After using this command to create a background, it is recommended that you use the following two commands:
• Lock
The combination of the commands Fit to Page, Send to Back, and then Lock creates a fixed full page background on which you can layer objects (with embedded graphics and text) as necessary to capture the memory or preserve the experience.
There are two different kinds of backgrounds based on the use of either large images or patterns, which is summarized as follows:
Creating a Background Using Large Images - There are four ways to bring a large image into the active scrapbook page in order to create a background:
(1) You can drag the image onto the page from the desktop, folder, iPhoto, etc., which embeds the image in a Rectangle object. The object has no Stroke (border) so it appears to be just an image, not an image embedded in an object.
(2) You can drag the image from the iRemember ClipArt application window, which embeds the image in a Rectangle object. The object has no stroke (border) so it appears to be just an image, not an image embedded in an object.
(3) You can create a Rectangle, Oval, or any Shape object, then use the Insert… command. From the Insert dialog box, select the desired image. The image is then embedded into the object. You may also drag and drop the image into the object from the desktop, folder, iPhoto, or iRemember ClipArt application window.
(4) You can create a Rectangle, Oval, or any Shape object, then open the Inspector Window and select the Image tab. You can then drag the image into the rectangle labeled “Drag Image Here”. This will embed the image into the object.
Creating a Background Using Patterns - iRemember ClipArt provides patterns. You must first create a Rectangle, Oval, or any Shape object. You then open the Inspector Window and select the Fill tab. You must drag and drop a pattern or any piece of clipart from the ClipArt window into the rectangle labeled “Drag Pattern Here”. The iRemember application will then fill the object with the selected pattern. In other words, if you draw a rectangle, drop a single piece of clipart into the pattern fill window (drag image here area), select “Fit to Page” from the arrange menu, then piece of clipart will be splattered all over your page as a background. You can then scale, rotate, and adjust the horizontal and vertical spacing between the individual pieces of clipart in the pattern fill.
