| Format Menu: Show/Hide Colors |
Selecting “Hide Colors” from the Format menu (or holding the “Command” and “Shift” keys down then pressing the “C” key) hides the Color panel.

The above example shows you the change in opacity levels. Changing a layer's opacity determines to what degree it obsecures or reveals the layer beneath it. A layer with 1% opacity appears nearly transparent, while one with 100% opacity appears completely opaque. The above example shows the stroke which starts with a Dark Green opacity of 100% changed down to an opacity of 56%. The Fill color starts with a royal blue color and the opacity level has been changed to 83%. The middle color bluegreen shows the area in which the fill color and stroke color blend together.
Below are the other four formats available under the standard Mac OS X Color panel. The five different formats allow you to achieve the desired degree of color selection control based on your personal experience level. Once you select the desired format, it is remembered the next time you show the Color panel. In all Color panel formats, when you select a color it is displayed in the large rectangle at the top of the panel. In all five formats (shown above and below), white is the active color.
-Note the magnifying glass icon at the top of the Color panel. Clicking on the magnifying glass icon, changes your cursor into a color selection tool. The color selection tool allows you to pickup a color from anywhere on the screen in order to specify the color of objects. Refer to Color Selector Help for more detail.
