Inspector Window: Shape Tab

In the Inspector Window below, the “Shape” button is selected. All of the presented features apply to Rectangle, Oval, Shape, and Line objects. You can see the results of changes to Inspector Window settings for the selected object as changes are made.

Rotate

The Rotate setting applies to any type of selected object. The following shows a triangle Shape object and Text object, both rotated 45 degrees.

By default, embedded images are rotated with their parent. Use the Insepctor's Image Tab to rotate embedded images independently.

Stroke

Stroke settings determine the type of “pen stroke” used to draw a Line object or the borders of Rectangle, Oval, and Shape objects. You may adjust the Color, Width and Style of any Stroke. The “Join” control determines whether the joints of objects will be drawn square, rounded or beveled. The “Cap” control determines if the endpoint of a line object is drawn: square, rounded or projecting square.

Shadow

Shadow settings are used to provide the illusion of depth to a Line, Rectangle, Oval, or Shape object. The “Blur” control determines how hard an edge the shadow will have. “Offset” determines how far the shadow will be drawn away from the object. “Angle” determines the location of the light source.

Note: Shadows are applied to the combination of an object's stroked and filled regions. If applying a stroke appears to have no effect, try changing the object's stroke width or checking the“Fill” button in the Inspector's Fill Tab.

Examples

The following shows the use of the Stroke and Shadow settings on a triangle Shape object.

In the following example, the Stroke and Shadow settings have been applied to a Line object to demonstrate the use of the Cap setting. If you want more space between the lines, you should use the first end Cap (not extened) or use a different line Style.
