iRemember FAQ

Q: When I install the latest Upgrade (or Update), I get a message saying the software cannot be installed on this computer. This upgrade/update “requires that your existing iRemember folder be located in the Applications folder.” My iRemember folder *is* in the Applications folder, what do I do?

A: The Upgrade and Update installers are very picky. Please review this checklist of potential problems below:

  1. Use Spotlight to search for and remove “extra” copies of iRemember. (Keep only one copy inside the Applications folder.) If you have multiple copies of iRemember (and/or the Trial version) installed on your hard disk, the installer becomes confused about which one you are “updating”.
  2. The “iRemember” folder must be located in the Applications folder. Its name must not be changed.
  3. The “iRemember” application must be inside the iRemember folder. Its name must not be changed.
  4. The “iRemember ClipArt” application must be inside the iRemember folder. Its name must not be changed.
  5. The “Clipart” folder must be inside the iRemember folder. Its name must not be changed.
  6. You need read/write permission to modify the iRemember folder and all of its contents.

Your iRemember folder should look like the picture below (when displayed using Icon view) in the Finder:

If you have permission problems, do the following:

  1. Using the Finder, select the iRemember folder and choose “Get Info” from the File menu.
  2. You must be the current OWNER of the iRemember folder to change permissions. If you are not the owner, Logout and then Login to your Mac using the account that is the OWNER of the iRemember folder. Follow these steps from the beginning once you are logged in as the owner.
  3. Modify the permissions so you have “Read & Write” access as shown below.
  4. Click the “Apply to enclosed items…” button.
